Being a fangirl. I really need to stop. When I go to Broadway shows, I stage door like a 12-year-old tween who loves "Twilight" or somthing.

I'm gonna be 29 in 3 weeks.

It's sad.

I know.

"Rocks My Socks" Meme

So, why does [info]beloved_juno rock my socks? I’ll start off by being superficial. I think that she is one of the most naturally beautiful people I have ever seen. The camera loves her. Out of all the pictures she has posted, I don’t think I’ve seen a bad one. Beautius :-)
Now, as she stated in her post, we connected over the same stalker. I don’t remember exactly how I came upon her journal… I think it was related to her wonderful art. What I do remember is that after she accepted my friend request, I decided to read some of her older entries to get to know her a bit. And was I thrown for a loop when I saw that –oh my lord – she was harassed by the same exact person I was. What are the chances of that happening? We immediately bonded over her craziness and came to realize we do have a quite a bit in common. So, yes, I will agree and say that having a crazy stalker was worth probably it if it meant having a friend as awesome as you.
I am not very talented when it comes down to it. Can’t sing, dance, play an instrument or do any kind of art. I can write a little yes, but Shannon has a way with words that I can only wish to. Even her LJ entries have this polished quality to them; you always want to read them no matter how long or short or what she’s talking about. She keeps you interested in everything. That’s talent.
And I can’t forget to mention her artwork. Every piece seems like it has its own soul to it. They are full of color and life…. even when they are “dark” pieces. You have more talent that anyone I know.
She also shares the same passion for food as I do. She loves to cook and try new things, though I will say, I’m not quite as adventurous as she is at times!
And I did not realized until recently that she shares the same passion for theater I do. Which just gives me another reason to love her.
Finally, she is unafraid to speak her mind. If there are things bothering her, she vents in her journal. And while I don’t always respond (sometimes you just don’t know what to say) I truly appreciate that she wants to share her life with her LJ friends. Someone who is open and unashamed of who she is and who she wants to be. And I appreciate every day that she includes me in her life. She cares about what happens to me, cheers me up when I'm down and overall just tries to be the best friend she can possibly be. I trust her advice and opinions - she would never steer you wrong.
I am sad she moved across the country before we got a chance to meet. Because if you still lived in Connecticut, my dear, it would be much easier to organize a weekend of “Hair” and cooking craziness. I would love nothing more to share that with you.
Shannon, you are a special, special person and a wonderful friend and I hope that someday very soon we can finally meet up.

Becasue I forgot to do this before.....

I had to put Sparky to sleep on Thursday morning. He was 8 1/2 years old. Ancient in ferret years. But he was a good boy and had a good long life. Now he's with his sister Stinky.

On to some good news.

In DC for the weekend to go see "Rent"!! Few thoughts on the show:

--Anthony Rapp really puts his all into every performance.

--His dancing never gets old.

--Adam Pascal's "Glory" gets better and better every damn time I hear him sing it.

--Justin Johnson is the best Angel ever. He's amazing.

--I love Michael McElroy's voice.

--Was not a fan of Caren Tackett's Mimi. She howls better in "Out Tonight" than Lexi Lawson does IMHO, but otherwise, meh.

--I love Adam Pascal. This time he mimed stripping during "Christmas Bells". Last time he was sniffing Lexi's hair. LMFAO

--Didn't stay to see the cast come out, so watch Adam come out tonight. That would be just my luck.

--Going to Boston in July to see them again!!! Cannot wait!

So, going to see "Rent" in Washington D.C. weekend of the 29, 30 and 31.

Then, going to see it in Boston weekend of July 24, 25 and 26.

Also trying to figure out if I can make it to Schenectady, NY the weekend after.

Also, getting "No Day But Today" tattooed on my hip sometime before the July trip.

I'm a sad, sad person LMAO But I love every minute of it.

So, I totally broke my laptop last night. Snapped the plug off in the port. Gotta love 4 year old Mac Powerbooks... you know, the ones without the nice, new magnetic plugs? So today? Bought a new laptop. A shiny, pretty Macbook. That has the lovely little magnetic plug. Unfortunately, I can't transfer all the data form my old laptop to the new one because it has to be on to do that - and according to the the transfer program, it's gonna take about 12 hours. And without having a plug or an unbroken port to plug said plug in, my old laptop will only last 2.

Good news? My dad wants the old laptop so he's gonna pay for it to get fixed and get a new plug. So, I'm gonna have to wait a week or so trying to roam around the internet without all my saved websites and other goodies and without my iTunes. That makes me a little sad.

But I have a pretty new computer! Yay!!

Oh, yes, and the first week of work went great! Plus, I found out that instead of making $15/hour, I'm actually making $18.66. How freaking awesome???

Seriously???

Okay, I'm doing the 5 Item Word Association Meme again!! Why? Because it's fun and I'm now friends with the amazingly awesome (hey, that was alliterative!) [info]singingchipmunk and she asked me to. So NYA NYA NYA!!! :-p

1. Adam Pascal: Our favorite subject, eh? LOL I actually didn't fall in love with AP until "Aida". I caught "Rent" after the original cast had left. So although I listened to the soundtrack nonstop and looked at pictures online, I never got to experience him as Roger. So when I heard he was going to be in "Aida" I fast tracked myself a pair of tickets. And OMG was I not disappointed. His voice live is so much more amazing than on CD! And shirtless? **dies** The man is perfect. Which means he was either gay or married. Married it is! LMFAO I've waited for him twice at the stage door, but alas, no luck. Hopefully 3rd time's the charm!

2. Roger Davis: I just love the character. To me, he gets the most powerful songs of the entire show. "One Song Glory", "Another Day", "Goodbye Love". Those all just show his pain, insecurities and doubts. And I think even non HIV+ people can connect with those feelings. I know I did. Despite feeling meh on some of the actors I've seen play Roger, I feel like they have all showed those issues he has so well. And I think that's what made me love him so much. And then I got to see AP play Roger a few weeks ago. And man. There are no words to what he puts in to the character. Just another whole level.

3. Supernatural: I've loved everything associated with vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, etc. for as long as I can remember. For someone to finally create a show based around this? Pure genius. I love you, Eric Kripkie!!! Plus, the show has this great dark humor to it and very cute men LOL Bring back Jeffery Dean Morgan!!

4. Labrynth: All I know is that I've loved this movie since I was 5. I remember loving the music the most. I would sing "Magic Dance" to myself over and over again. And I also used to wish Hoggle would become human so he could be with Sarah. Yes, even at the age of 5, I was a shipper. LOL "Labyrinth" also started my obsession with David Bowie :-D

5. Tim Roth: Tim Roth, Tim Roth, Tim Roth. How do I love thee? He is my favorite actor. EVER. When I first saw "Reservoir Dogs", I thought he was the most adorable thing ever. Even covered in blood. I thought his character was great and when I found out he WASN'T American, I was like, holy shit! Really? Fooled me! He can do everything from drama to comedy..... and can play a filthy, evil bastard perfectly. I also admired him for not jumping right into mainstream films. He kept on doing the indie stuff. Now he's finally getting out there, with "The Incredible Hulk" and "Lie To Me".

Why me?

I just need to give up and hire a chauffeur. If I get into one more fender bender, I swear I'm going to go insane. And why is it when I rear end another car, they get nothing but little scratches, but my car crumples like an accordion?? Someone up there REALLY hates me. Or just laughs at me 'cause I suck at driving :-/

If you haven't guessed by now, I rear ended somebody today. Because I just suck at life in general.

Both me and my parents have come to the conclusion that after my car comes out of the shop (again), it's time to get a sturdier model. Because the P T Cruiser? Made of plastic and styrofoam. STYROFOAM. I'm not kidding. 2 years ago when I was in a bad accident and my car was a freaking mess, there was styrofoam in the middle of the road.

So now I'm going to try and find something to do that doesn't make me feel like an ass.

Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

This time, the prompts were given to me by the very cool [info]leborat.

1. Logan (from Veronica Mars): I actually hated Logan in the beginning. I thought he was pompous and vile to Veronica. But slowly, we found out about the child abuse by his father and I began to cut him a little slack. Then, he loses the only person who seemed to care about him - his mother. We saw him go from this awful person to this completely lost soul. Him and Veronica slowly became friends again. And the kiss outside the motel when Logan "saved" Veronica from the Fed - totally did not see that coming and man, was it hot. After that, I was totally in love. Plus, I love after they came out at his "birthday party", he told anyone who did like V to pretty much fuck off. I *heart* Logan. And Jason Dohring.

2. Mark & Lexie & hotness): Well, just look at Eric Dane. That should sufficiently describe the hotness LOL About Slexie? I see everywhere how people complain that this relationship was just thrown upon us out of nowhere? Um, excuse me? Did people not see from the first episode of this season what was coming? Totally picking on her about George, letting her talk back to him, telling her that if "he likes someone, he makes sure they know." He was enamored from the start. And I think they are totally adorable together. I don't know. They just seem to fit to me. And I love that they are finally making him more than just a manwhore. Lexie brings out the good in him.

3. Rent: I saw this for the first time when I was 19 years old. Almost 10 years later, I've now seen it 21 times. That doesn't include the movie or the lovely last performance DVD that was just sent to me. I was just blown away by it. I don't think I can properly express in words how it beautiful this show is. The music is just amazing.... It's not in just one style. It covers so many things that relates to the world: love, loss, sickness, homophobia, trying to live your dream... And the songs.... some of them make the hair on your arms stand right up. Every time I see it, it just makes me into this big ball of emotion.... Gah! I can't even describe it! It's just so amazing. It never gets old. I can see it over and over and over again. If you haven't seen it, you must. It's touring with 2 of the original cast members (who I didn't' get to see until this past weekend and it was most amazing thing EVER. Adam Pascal's voice? Hairs stood up every time he sang.) Find out if it's coming to a city near you and GO.

4. West Side Story: This is tied for second with "The Sound of Music" for all time favorite musical. And I actually HATE "Romeo and Juliet" with a passion. I do not like tragedies. I'm a happy ending kind of girl. Which is what makes it so weird that I love this one. I think the romantic songs were so beautifully written and Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer actually made you BELIEVE that they fell in love at first sight. And I have no idea why I love the end after Tony dies and Maria is pointing the gun at everyone, ending with her breaking down and screaming "Don't you touch him!" Breaks my heart every time; I cry like a baby. But it's simply amazing. And I'm a Riff girl :-)

5. Twilight hatred: LOL I'm just going to link to my previous entry describing the hatred. Because I think I summed it up pretty good there LMFAO
Stephen King is my idol.

I'm addicted and it's very, very sad.

So, I'm not sure if everyone knows, but they are doing a Broadway revival of "West Side Story". It's my mom's favorite musical ever and it's pretty much in my top 3. So, at dinner last night, we start talking about musicals. Why? Because my best friend, Shannon, calls me and she's crazy excited. We apparently show up on the "Rent: Filmed Live On Broadway" DVD for all of 3 seconds LMAO. For the special features, they filmed the Final Lottery to win tickets. We went and unfortunately didn't win. But you can see us in the background! And this made her very excited. LMAO

Back to my original statement about the "West Side Story" revival. So are discussing musicals for about 1 1/2 hrs., mom decides that she HAS to go se WSS. We get home from dinner and I search for tickets. Now, on Saturday, May 2 at 8 pm, we are going to see "West Side Story" on Broadway.

Other notable musical news: The Bucks County Playhouse in PA has acquired the rights to do "Rent" this season around September/October. The best part? Tickets don't cost more than $20. And the theater is only an hour away in this amazing little town. I am SO gonna be there.

I'm a sad, sad person.

So, for Valentine's Day, my best friend and I (plus her husband; HE was the third wheel, ironically LMAO) went to NJPAC to go see the Broadway Tour of "Rent". Which is quite possibly my favorite thing ever. How obsessed am I? I saw it 20 times on Broadway. If I had more money, it would have been more times. Yes, I'm that sad. I never got to see the original cast and the tour has the original Roger and Mark - Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp. And OMFG..... ADAM PASCAL. He's so so so so pretty!!! And his voice live? Oh. My. God. The soundtrack pales in comparison.

*cries* I need to see it again!! NOW!!! :(

I'm trying to make plans to either see it in D.C. or Schenectady, NY.

I have an illness and it's called Loving Adam Pascal and Rent.

Yay!!! : I have an interview for a secretarial/administrative assistant position at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC on Monday. One of the best - if not the best - cancer hospitals in the United States. And those positions start at $35,900 a year. I would absolutely love to get situated in a top hospital, especially since I'm looking to go to medical school (nursing school if the science classes I need to take don't go so well LOL). But, yes, it would be a great foot in the door.

Ugh!!! : The appointment for my interview is 9:15 am. A.M. I have to get up at like 5:30 am to get to the city in time to catch a train that would get me in the city by like 8:30 am. FUN!!!

I better get this damn job LOL

Just to start off this post: Everyone is entitled their their own opinions. These are mine. You can reply with your opinions, but do not yell at me, bitch at me or any other stupid responses. I will delete them. Opinions: Good. Flaming: Bad.

Now, on to my post.

I know that a few of you on my friends list are fans of "Twilight" and the subsequent books. (I refuse to call them "novels" because, well, they're not.) And this may put me on your shit list, but I think "Twilight" is one of the worst books I've ever read. I'm sorry. A) Bella is just a whiny bitch. Shut the fuck up. B) Edward is a pussy. Shut the fuck up. C) Vampires. Do. Not. SPARKLE. D) Vampire baseball?? WTF?? E) There is no explanation whatsoever for Bella and Edward's attraction to each other. It just is. How come Edward didn't fall for some other girl? What's so fucking special about Bella... aside from the fact she's a whiny brat?? F) The only cool character in the book is the bad guy, James, and he gets killed. G) Actually, Jacob Black isn't so bad.

On the other hand, I love Stephen King. Some may think he is nothing but pop trash. Not a writer of any significance. But, unlike Stephanie Meyer, King has actually written an excellent novel about vampires called "Salem's Lot" - 30 years before "Twilight". The vampires there are scary and evil. His writing is extraordinarily graphic and realistic. His vampires do not SPARKLE. They terrorize.

Yeah, one's a love story, one's a horror story. Doesn't make "Twilight" any better. As a matter of fact, the romance made it worse. If she had tried going the scary route, she might have done a better job. She did a good job with making James frightening, but not frightening enough.

Now, I know you're saying, but "Twilight" is a young adult book and "Salem's Lot" is adult fiction. Why are you even comparing them? Because King knows a good young adult writer when he reads one: He thinks J.K. Rowling is a great writer, but Meyer... not so much: What King Thinks About Twilight
He understands the appeal of "Twilight" - but just because it appeals to teens doesn't mean the writer is any good. And I completely agree with him.

I also know you are probably thinking, well, Adrienne, you're 28. You're probably too old to understand "Twilight". And you would be wrong. I know plenty of 30, 40, and 50 year old women who love it. Also, I adore the "Harry Potter" series. And, if you want to pick up some good young adult vampire novels, look up L.J. Smith. She wrote the "Night World" series and my all-time favorites "The Vampire Diaries" series.

Also, go read Bram Stoker's "Dracula". The original vampire novel. And if you like chick lit? Kim Harrison has an awesome series that has a mix of witches, vampires, werewolves and pixies. Like humor? Check out Christopher Moore's "Bloodsucking Fiends" and "You Suck: A Love Story."

Ahhh. Now I feel better that I got all my "Twilight" hate out. It's been building up for a while.

What do you want done with your body after you die?

Submitted By [info]crunch_crunch

That's an interesting question. I know that I want to be an organ donor - side note: My dumbass ex-boyfriend refused to put down organ donor on his driver's license because he thought that if he was in a bad accident, they would give him less treatment at the hospital so he would die and they could harvest his organs. Seriously??? Has he never heard of the Hippocratic Oath and "first do no harm"? SERIOULSY?? And I dated him for 5 1/2 years??? What a fucking moron. Anyway. I digress.

When I die, I would like any viable organs to be donated. Knowing I could save a life in death would make me very happy. (Unless, of course, I live until I'm 90 and my organs are probably to old to be used.) After that, I don't know. The idea of cremation is nice.... ashes spread somewhere that has meaning to me. But being buried also is a good option. A place for loved ones to visit after. So I honestly don't know what I would want done. Though, it's not something I have given much thought to at 28 years of age. Then again, anything can happen, right?

God, this subject is morbid. I'm going to stop now.

Soooo my idol!!!
